Right up top: my store is open for any holiday shopping, including both volumes of Justice Warriors and some discounted Nib magazines.
The Toxic Avenger #3 drops in comic shops today. This one I’m really happy with—it’s where our story turns and we reveal the true nature behind the toxic waste spill in Tromaville, along with the introduction of a character pulled from franchise deep freeze. Fans of Toxic Crusaders should be pleased. For the rest of you, coming into this series knowing nothing about Toxie is A-OK and won’t hinder your reading experience one bit.
AIPT comics, who have been running thoughtful reviews delving into each issue, says this new issue is filled with “brighter, sharper satire and rich, unwaveringly human storytelling about living good among disastrous times.” Just what I’m going for. You can read a five page preview here. But really, just get to a comic shop and buy the damn thing!
Here are all three covers by Fred Harper, myself, and Sophie Campbell, mutant majesty in my book, as she’s coming off a lauded run on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. A huge Toxie fan to boot!

I’ve been following the story of the healthcare CEO shooting with interest. The suspect, Luigi Mangione, is reported to have been taken into custody with a 3-D printed ghost gun. Yes, we have one of those used in an assassination in Justice Warriors: Vote Harder. If you’re looking for a political thriller that captures our era of violent psychosis and disastrous elections, well, we made you one.
We may be making more, if we’re lucky. That is one of my hopes for 2025. I don't illustrate either series I’m working on right now, but I do like to draw the characters as often as I can, so here is the battled-damaged Justice Warriors crew I whipped up for my own amusement. Below that, my variant for The Toxic Avenger #4, which will be in comic shops January 22.
The end of the year is creeping up fast, which has me thinking about annual wrap ups, my favorite comics, looking back, looking forward, my triumphs and miseries. Something to post about! Instead, I think I’m going to duck out of social media and newslettering for a few weeks to power through my personal and professional to-do list and, if I’m lucky, get a little downtime.
I have some very cool shit lined up for 2025. Look for me staying in my current lane of violent mutant satire —and flooring the pedal. See you next year.
All of the covers for Toxie are tremendous; truly impressive how they all align so closely with the tone and aesthetic of the book while also being entirely distinct.
Hoping those JW heads show up in a corner box on an upcoming release!
Love the #4 variant. The Thing on the Doorstep is my favorite Lovecraft story!
