A Mound of Mutant Muck
New covers and illustrations of the Toxic Avenger, Gorm, and Bog Being.
I have been holed up this past month and a half writing the new ongoing Toxic Avenger series launching in July. Our first five issues will all have a different artist working in a different genre, so I’ve been writing all of them simultaneously in order to get people hitting their drawing tables without delay. I have a lot I’d like to share, but they aren’t letting me share it yet. They’re saying it is illegal to tell you!
For now: call your comic shops and pre-order the new series Toxic Avenger Comics coming out July 9. I’m working on something special for all who do.
This newsletter is packed with new covers and illustrations that I am allowed to show you, the people. I have a lot to share with you very soon, including tons of Toxie news, some original art, and store and convention appearances through the summer and fall.
Toxic Avenger Pinup Special
Out this week in comic shops, The Toxic Avenger Pinup Special brings you a new five page story by myself and Fred Harper and more than a dozen pinups. This is crucial Toxie content while you wait for the new ongoing series. Also make sure to catch Toxie Team-Up #1 on June 11 where my pal Mark Russell, with artist Richard Pace, pairs the Toxic Avenger with Jesus Christ.
Below is the cover by Fred Harper and pinups by myself, Cayetano Valenzuela, and Tristan Wright. Get hip to Tristan, we are cooking up something special I’ll be able to talk about soon.
New covers and illustrations
My cover for Toxic Avenger Comics #2 dropped. This is for the Crime issue and will see the debut of a completely new character who will be in the books going forward. Did I say books plural? Ah.
I drew the lovely boy Gorm here as an exclusive print for The Comics Courier, a newspaper sworn and dedicated to comics criticism. I long for a restoration in writing about comics the way the medium deserves. Grab a copy from their Kickstarter.
I made this illustration for Troma to promote a new book of Lloyd Kaufman interviews. The thing that stuck in my young mind the most about The Toxic Avenger movies was him pulling out somebody's intestines and jumping rope with them in, I want to say the third movie? So when I was asked to do a Lloyd Kaufman tribute with Toxie it only seemed right to disembowel the legend. This is not available as an actual cover for the printed book, though I’m told it could be used as a comic book cover soon…
I doodled some Dick Tracy villains.
I’ll drop a Bog Being from my iPad.
Finally, my eight year old drew the Toxic Avenger, which I can’t resist sharing. Adding stubble to the head was a nice touch and I’m probably going to borrow that.
The people DEMAND more Bog Being.
This is perfect. Especially with RFK Jr. taking the grandkids for a swim in sewage!
